Be Yourself - Mixed Media Tutorial

Taas tuli tehtyä yksi 30 x 30 cm mixed media -työ, jossa hyödynsin mm. Fiskarsin upeaa kennolävistäjää. Suomenkielisiä ohjeita löytyy Fiskarettesista TÄÄLTÄ!

I made another 30 x 30 cm (12 x 12 inches)  mixed media canvas piece and this time I made it for my son. He has an Asperger syndrome and gets bullied at school sometimes because he's different. I wanted to remind him with this piece that it's important to be yourself even if it means you're a bit different.  I hope this will help him with the social issues he's having and he gets strength to be himself  as he truly is a special boy <3 p="">

First I punched out some hexagon with the XL sized Fiskars Squeeze Punch from Post-it notes and arranged them at the center of the canvas to create a "mask".

Then I punched out some hexagon from Prima Marketing papers and glued them with gel medium. I trimmed the excess paper of with Fiskars scissors and used the scissors to distress the edges. Then I removed the post-it pieces and left the piece to dry overnight.

Next Day I sprayed some Distress Stain sprays over the piece. I used Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Walnut Stain and Rusted Hinge.

After sprays were dry I took Black Soot - Distress Marker and draw lines on the edges of the hexagons. I blurred the lines with my finger.  I also added some Distress Ink: Black Soot on the edges.

I used the same shades of Distress Stain Sprays as earlier on canvas and sprayed them on aquarelle paper. Then I stamped the text with letter stamps on there and cut the letter out individually.  I inked the edges with Distress Ink: Black Soot and glued them down with gel medium. 

Finally I used Fiskars Fuse and some Sizzix Bigz -dies to create black chipboard embellishments on the edges of the canvas piece.  I also added some golden gilding wax on the edges of the chipboard pieces to give more metallic feel. Then I added some gilding wax on the top the canvas too and signed the piece.

Valentine Favor Wrap

Fiskarettesissa esittelin tämän kivan ystävänpäivän lahjaidean jo viime viikonloppuna. Rasia on tehty Fiskars Fusen stanssilla ja koristeluihin käytetty myös muitakin Fiskarsin työkaluja.  Tarkemmat ohjeet tekemiseen löytyvätkin suomeksi Fiskarettesien blogista täältä!

I made this Valentine treat bag for Fiskarettes blog and used a variety of Fiskars products to make it.

First I used Fiskars Fuse and the Favor Wrap die to create the template for the box out of white cardstock. Then I used a paper trimmer to cut pieces of patterned paper for each side of the box.

On the front of the box I punched a heart-shaped window with Everywhere Window Punch: Heart.  Then I placed a piece of acetate on the backside of the window and glued the box together. After the adhesive had dried, I took a clear treat bag and put some wrapped candy inside. Then I placed the bag inside the favor wrap and closed the lid with a gluedot.

Then I used the Standard Tag Maker Punch to make a tag out the patterned paper. I mounted the tag on white cardstock and cut few millimeters from the tag to make a nice frame for the tag. Then I made a hole for the tag with the Circle Hand Punch for the tag. If you use only the pattern paper for making the tag - you can also use Tag Maker's build in system to make the hole for the tag.

Then I punched 2 hearts with L-sized Squeeze Punch - one from white cardstock and other from pink cardstock.  The white one I added to the gift tag and the pink one on top of the closure of the favor wrap. Then I made another hole with the circle hand punch on the top of the favor wrap and  added some white twine to attach the tag to the box.

As a final touch I used Faber-Castell White Stamper's Big Brush -marker to line the patterned paper pieces and soften the contrast between white cardstock and the patterned paper.

Ihania metsäaiheisia pahvisia leikekuvia tuli taannoin jonkin ulkomaalaisen lehden kylkiäisinä ja nyt tuli tarve tehdä varastoon jo yksi miehekäs onnittelukortti isäni tulevia syntymäpäiviä ajatellen. Tarkempi selostus löytyy Fiskarettesista täältä.

A while back I got some gorgeous chipboard pieces as a free goodie with purchase of a british craft magazine. My dad is having his birthday at late fall so I decided to be early this year and make him a birthday card in advance - these pieces were perfect for him as he loves to hunt! Pakkauslaatikon uusi elämä...

Sain käsiini pienen rasian, jossa oli pakattuna ollut pienikokoinen tablettitietokone. Rasia oli jykevä ja niin näppärän kokoinen, etten raskinnut roskiin nakata vaan se pääsi pikaiseen tuunaukseen lahjarasiaksi.

Ensiksi levitin mustaa gessoa kauttaaltaan rasian ulko ja sisäpinnoille. Gesson kuivattua maalasin Decoartin kultakimallemaalilla vielä uudelleen pinnan ja näin se sai sekä hieman kiiltoa että kimallusta pintaan. Stanssasin ja kohokuvioin kultaisesta kimalletarrakalvosta Fiskars Fusen stanssilla boordinauhan, jonka kiinnitin kanteen. Leikkasin vielä vipulävistäjällä kukkasia boordissa olevien kukkasten keskelle ja keskustoiksi laitoin kultaisia kimalletarraympyröitä.

Koska tavoitteena on päästä eroon vanhoista ääriviivatarravarastoistani tämän vuoden loppuun mennessä ja ne sopivat tähän projektiin tosi hyvin, niin lopuksi koristelin reunat ja kulmat ääriviivatarroin.  Koska tiedossa on pian erään läheisen 60 -vuotisjuhlat niin koristelin ääriviivatarroilla rasian jo käyttöäkin varten! Nyt tarvitsee enää se lahja lisätä sisälle!

I got a packaging box of a small tablet from a friend and decided to recycle it into a gift box.  

First I aplied black gesso all over the box and the lid. After the gesso was dry I painted over it with Decoart golden glitterpaint, which gave the box a shiny and glamorous finish. Then I used Fiskars Fuse to diecut and letterpress the golden flower border from adhensive glitter cardstock. I decorated the border with some punched small flowers and round glitter stickers. I also used some outline stickers to decorate the box for a 60th birthday for a family member of mine.

Piristystä koulunalkuun!

Kamalaa huomata miten aika kuluu nopsaan ja minun pieni poika aloitti eilen jo neljännen luokan??? Päätin, että Petja oli ansainnut pientä piristystä koulun alkuun kun keväälläkin niin hienon todistuksen toi kotiin ja on kesän lukenut reippaana kirjoja :) Tällainen kokonaisuus sitten tule väkerrettyä - eli kynäteline, lukupassi ja muistilappukirjanen.

My son started 4th grade yesterday - time really flies with little boys as it wasn't a long time ago when he was just a baby in my arms ;) After great spring diploma ( top of his class in English and A student total) and reading lots of books during summer vacation I thought he deserved somethings special for the school start - so I made him a desk organizer, reading pass book and case for the Post-it notes.
